Writing Exercise: The color blue

I am sitting at the beach. Sunshine. Not a cloud. The rolling waves are mesmerizing. Then I see it. Arms. Waiving. I cannot hear them. I cannot tell who they are. Don't care. Either. A step. A gallop. A dive. It's cold, the waves push me away. But I get to them. Limp in my arms. But breathing. Not that at this moment I can tell. At the shore, I notice the blue of their lips. Turning purple, then red. They'll be fine. So will I. Not based on real events. Originally published on twitter. Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay
